In a bid to tap the budding cricketing talents from financially weaker families in and around Mangaldai district and groom them for future under proper training , the Mangaldai Sports’ Association (MSA) has started a cricket coaching academy.
As per sources, the Mangaldai Sports’ Association (MSA) has taken the initiative to launch the coaching academy for the budding talents in the field of cricket under the technical support from the Assam Cricket Association.
Sources also informed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA of Mangaldai Assembly Constituency, who is also the president of the Mangaldai Sports’ Association, Gurujyoti Das on Saturday afternoon formally inaugurated the academy at the Mangaldai Stadium.
The inaugural programme was attended by several office-bearers of the Mangaldai Sports’ Association, Mukut Kalita pitch curator recognised by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and a number of other cricket lovers.
A total of twenty eight young cricketers including two girls have registered their names on the day of the inauguration of the academy.
“Each of the players willing to be trained in the academy has to get his or her name registered with a nominal fee of Rs 500 and monthly fee of Rs 200,” Sambhu Deb, treasurer of Mangaldai Sports’ Association, told North East Now on Saturday.
