Lok Sabha MP from Shillong constituency in Meghalaya – Vincent Pala has said that the inter-state border rows among the Northeast states have taken an “aggressive turn” after the new BJP-led Government was sworn-in in Assam.
Vincent Pala said this on Friday, in a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“For reasons best known to the present BJP-led government of Assam, such conflicts have not only been on the rise, but have also taken a much more aggressive turn,” Vincent Pala stated in his letter to the Prime Minister.
“…aggressive posturing at inter-state borders is perilous to healthy neighbourly relations,” Vincent Pala added.

The Shillong MP urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene and resolve the border disputes between the states.
“I sincerely urge you to address this issue at the earliest,” Pala said in his letter to PM Modi.
He also said that the recent clashes along the Assam-Mizoram border has once again highlighted the vulnerability of peace and stability of the region.
Vincent Pala added that barring Tripura and Manipur, all other Northeast states have decades-long border disputes with Assam.
