A hamstring injury has put dark cloud over the possibility of Hima Das’ qualification for 4x100m women’s relay quartet event in the Tokyo Olympics. 

Hima Das suffered a hamstring injury during 100m heats at the National Inter-State Athletics Championships underway in Patiala on Saturday. 

Karnataka’s AT Dhaneshwari will replace Hima Das in the 4x100m women’s relay team, as the Indian women quartet will make a final bid for Olympics qualification during the ongoing National Inter-State Championships. 

The other members of the quartet will be national record holder Dutee Chand, Dhanalakshmi and Archana Suseendran.

For the Indian women’s 4x100m relay team to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics, it needs to clock below 43.04 seconds. 

The women’s 4x100m relay final in the National Inter-State Athletics Championships is scheduled to be held on Tuesday.
