The Indian Railways has introduced the Kishan Rail Special Train, a special train for peasants between Tarakeswar and Dimapur.
The Kishan Rail Special Trains have been started to transport perishables and agricultural products including milk, meat and fish.

These trains aim to enhance the turnover of the agricultural sector by connecting production centers to markets and consumption centers.
Farmers will also receive a subsidy of 50 per cent on the transportation of fruits and vegetables by these trains.
The railways operated the first Kishan Rail Special Train on Friday.

The weekly train will operate to and from Dimapur will till July 30 this year.
The 00329 Tarakeswar – Dimapur Kishan Rail Special Train will leave Tarakeswar at 10 am every Friday to reach Dimapur the next day.
The 00330 Dimapur -Tarakeswar Kishan Rail Special Train will leave Dimapur at 9.30 pm every Saturday and reach Tarakeswar at 7.10 am the next day.
The train will halt at Bandel, Ambika Kalna, Nabadwip Dham, Purbasthali, Katwa, Azimgunge, Azimgunge, Malda, New Jalpaiguri, New Coochbehar, New Bongaingaon, Guwahati and Lumding enroute in both directions for loading and unloading of goods.
According to sources, the railway authorities strictly monitor the duration these Kisan trains travel to avoid any en-route detentions and delays.
These services have been introduced on 18 routes so far.
