AIZAWL: At least four people in Mizoram were killed in house fires in the last seven months.
According to officials of Fire and Emergency Services under the state home department, 176 house fire incidents were reported in the last five years between 2020 to 12 August 2024.

They said that 21 people have been killed and 27 others injured in house fires during the same period, of which 4 were killed between January and 12 August this year.
The highest number of deaths due to house fires was recorded in 2022 during which 15 people died and 11 others were injured in the incidents across the state, they said.

No death due to house fires was recorded in 2023, they said.
One person each died in 2021 and 2020, they said.
