While anti-CAB protests have become order of the day in Assam, Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma sees a positive environment.
Sarma on Saturday said that the government had anticipated protests over the CAB.

“We anticipated protests this time. However, meeting with several organisations of Northeast India, Union Home minister Amit Shah has created a positive environment,” Sarma said.
“There will be more positive vibe when Amit Shah will speak in the parliament on December 9 over the CAB,” he said.
Assam government has asked the headmasters in school to ensure that students do not participate in protest programme during the school hours and school uniform.

The Northeast Students Organization (NESO) and several other organizations have called for a Northeast bandh on 10 against CAB.
Some other students’ bodies as well as civil society organizations have also called for a bandh on December 9.
The bill is being opposed by people and organization in Assam and other parts of the northeastern region.
The CAB aims to making minority communities such as Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan eligible to apply for Indian citizenship.
The Bill is likely to be tabled in Lok Sabha on December 9.
