Guwahati: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the special assistance allocated to Assam for flood relief under the union budget 2024.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted various aspects of the budget that he believes will significantly benefit Assam and contribute to India’s overall growth.

“We are extremely grateful for the special assistance Assam will receive under this budget to help meet the challenges posed by floods,” CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

He stated that the reforms in land registration announced in the budget will complement Assam’s ongoing initiatives such as Mission Basundhara 3.0.

Praising union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the union budget 2024 “lays down a solid road map to maintain India’s growth momentum and seeks to propel our economy to the world’s third largest”.

The Assam chief minister also lauded the union budget 2024 for its focus on employment generation and support for small businesses.

“Schemes such as PM’s package for employment and skilling, one crore paid internship opportunities, and employment-linked incentives will be game changers,” he said.

CM Sarma highlighted the positive impact of enhanced allocations under the PM Awas Yojana and schemes like the PM Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan, which aims to saturate tribal majority villages with essential schemes.

He pointed out that these initiatives will have a net positive impact on Assam.

“The union budget 2024 infrastructure push via Rs 1.5 lakh crore to states, focus on improving agricultural productivity, green energy initiatives, and generous allocation for rural development will also have a multiplier effect on Assam’s growth,” Sarma said.

“Last but not the least, union budget 2024 has several progressive measures such as the review of the IT act, withdrawal of angel tax, reducing the fiscal deficit, sustaining capex, and several other measures will ensure India remains the fastest-growing economy for years to come,” the Assam CM added.
