Heavy rainfall to lash Assam, rest of northeastern States

Heavy rainfall activity has been observed over Assam and Meghalaya with heavy to very heavy rainfall followed by isolated extremely heavy showers and Arunachal Pradesh with isolated heavy showers. The activity was scattered over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura subdivision during the past
24 hours.

A Regional Meteorological Centre, Guwahati, press statement said that associated with this rainfall activity, monsoon activity was normal in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, and weak in Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the last 24 hours.

The axis of monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through Firozpur, Meerut, Lucknow, Muzaffarpur, Purnea, Guwahati and thence eastwards to east Nagaland.

The current meteorological analysis and numerical model guidance suggests continuation of fairly widespread to widespread rainfall activity with a significant increase in the intensity of the rainfall activity over the northeastern States during the next four to five days.

Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places on Sunday and Monday and isolated heavy falls is likely on July 3 and 4 next over Arunachal Pradesh.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted at few places with isolated extremely heavy falls is very likely on Monday; Isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely in the next three days with isolated extremely heavy falls likely. By July 5 next, isolated heavy rainfall may lash Assam and Meghalaya.

Isolated heavy rainfall is very likely in the next four to five days over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura.
