As many as 2,10,359 health care workers would be vaccinated in Assam in the first phase of the ongoing nationwide Covid-19 vaccination drive.

A total of 39,724 health workers have received the Covid-19 vaccines in Assam.

Informing this in the Parliament minister of state for health and family welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey said that 92,61,227 health care workers would be vaccinated in 37 states and UTs in phase one of vaccination.

24,551 health care workers would be vaccinated in Arunachal Pradesh, 45,071 in Manipur, 33,234 in Meghalaya, 15,534 in Mizoram, 21,503 in Nagaland, 10,691 in Sikkim and 47,035 health care workers would be vaccinated in Tripura in the first phase.

So far 39,50,156 beneficiaries have received the vaccine across India

A total of 9,791 beneficiaries have been vaccinated in Arunachal Pradesh, 4,373 in Manipur, 4,564 in Meghalaya, 9,932 in Mizoram, 3,998 in Nagaland, 2,166 in Sikkim and 31,190 in Tripura till Tuesday.

The health ministry further said that India’s average daily new cases also showed a clear downward slip in the last five weeks.

“While the average daily new cases were 18,934 between December 30 – January 5, they have reduced to 12,772 between January 27–February 2,” the ministry said.

The country has also reported less than 100 deaths in the last 24 hours, lowest in eight and a half months.

The last 100 deaths were recorded on May 15 last year.

The ministry said that the country’s active caseload has also shrunk further to 1,63,353 on Tuesday.

“The present active caseload now consists of just 1.52 percent of India’s total positive cases,” the ministry further said.

India’s cumulative recoveries stand at 1.04 crores on Tuesday. The recovery rate is 97.05 percent.
