Former Assam Congress leader Sushmita Dev, who quit the party and joined the TMC on Monday said that she had an ‘excellent’ discussion with West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.
Dev said that Mamata Banerjee had an ‘excellent’ future vision for the TMC party.

“Me, MP Derek O’Brien and AITC general secretary Abhishek Banerjee went to meet West Bengal CM (Mamata Banerjee) at her office. It was an excellent discussion and she clearly has an excellent future vision for the party,” Sushmita Dev said.
She added: “I hope to be hopeful to be helpful in that regard (helping the TMC rise further).”

Notably, Sushmita Dev joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Kolkata after quitting the Congress on Monday afternoon.
Senior TMC leaders Abhishek Banerjee and Derek O’Brien welcomed Sushmita Dev into the party folds.
Dev has submitted her resignation letter to All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Sonia Gandhi.
She has resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party.

Meanwhile, the Assam Congress has said that the party is shocked that former Lok Sabha MP Sushmita Dev has resigned from the party.
“Assam Pradesh Congress Committee feels that while holding such a responsible post as president of All India Mahila Congress, Sushmita Dev’s resignation from the party is indeed very shocking,” APCC Media Department Chairperson Bobbeeta Sharma said in a statement.
Assam Congress’s statement comes hours after Dev resigned from the primary membership of the party and join hands with the Trinamool Congress.
“Dev as AIMC president was leading lakhs of Congress women all over India. The Congress party never expected this from Dev as Congress had always respected her talent and had given her a lot of opportunities to grow as a leader,” Sharma said.
