Guwahati’s proposed Twin Tower is Durga Puja mandap theme in Chirang

As the puja committees across Assam are gearing up to celebrate Durga Puja with different themes, a puja committee in Chirang district has come up with a theme of the Twin Tower Trade Centre which has been proposed to be set up in Guwahati.

The AIR News Guwahati on its official Twitter handle on Saturday stated that the Pub Subhas Nagar Sarbajanin Durga Puja Celebration Committee has prepared their puja mandap based on the model of the proposed Twin Tower project.

It may be mentioned that as part of the Global Investors’ Summit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the Assam Government with the National Building Construction Corporation (India) Limited to set up a Twin Tower in Guwahati.

The iconic project is supposed to be implemented at Basistha Crossing near NH-37 with a completion period of sixty months.

The Twin Tower will have Convention Centre, Commercial offices, shopping mall, food courts, cinema halls, auditorium, residential apartments, museum, amphitheater and car parking. There will be cinema halls with seating capacity of 300 each, an auditorium with a capacity of 500, hotel with 210 rooms, 35,000 sq m of residential area with 3bhk and 5bhk flats.

The construction work of the Twin Tower was supposed to have commenced from July 2018 using green technologies and would reflect rich natural heritage and culture of Assam.

Speaking during the MoU signing event, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri had said, “This building is not just an impressive structure but it embodies the spirit of progress, the aspirations of the youth and a world class design” adding that July 2018 as the commencement day fits in beautifully with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s concept of new India.”?

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in his speech during the MoU signing programme said that the State Government decided to build the Twin Tower Trade Centre to develop an international environment for business in the State.
