Manbik is the son of one Bikash Surana who is a contractor.

Guwahati Police Commissioner Hiren Chandra Nath told media persons that More was an earlier employee of Manbik Surana’s father. But around six months back he was dropped from duty after he was found involved in embezzlement of money. A case was also lodged against him. Since then he had been absconding.

Nath said that More might have committed the crime as a revenge.

They also had a plan to demand ransom from Bikash Surana, said Nath. Investigation is on, he added.

The Guwahati Police detected a couple along with a youth during the rescue operation which led to the rescue of the child.

As per reports, though the school normally gets over at 12:30 pm, a youth, who identified himself as a relative of the child, came to the school on Monday before 11.30 am and asked the school authority to release the child saying that his mother wanted him to take Manbik due to some emergency.

The youth also connected a woman, who claimed to be the mother of Manbik, with the school authority over the telephone and that woman asked the school authority to immediately hand over Manbik to the youth on emergency ground.

An FIR was registered in this regard and the police immediately started their investigation.

A high-level police officials’ team rushed to the school campus and observed the CCTV footage in which the police came to know that the youth, who is differently-abled and was wearing jacket and black pant, left the school campus in a bike.

The police officials interrogated a number of people in connection with the kidnapping case.

In August 2016, a seven-year-old child was kidnapped from Joyanagar area under Basistha Police Station of Guwahati by a gang with the help of a newly-recruited maid.
