Guwahati Police arrests 26 Myanmar nationals, seizes fake Aadhar cards with Mizoram address

Guwahati Police on Sunday arrested a total of 26 Myanmar nationals, belonging to various districts of the neighbouring country, for illegally entering the Indian territory.

The Myanmar nationals were apprehended from a hotel at Paltan Bazar in Guwahati.

They were planning to move to Delhi.

The police said they seized Aadhar cards with Mizoram addresses and Indian voter registration cards from the possession of the Myanmar nationals.

The arrest of the Myanmar nationals with forged Aadhar cards has brought to light another picture of illegal infiltration in Assam.

It has been alleged that the foreigners also had fake United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) ID cards.

In June this year, the Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel arrested a total of 9 Rohingya refugees, including 3 women and a child in Guwahati.

The arrested foreigners were also allegedly carrying fake United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) ID cards.

A case has been registered at Paltan Bazar police station (case no.860/2021) under section 468 IPC R/W Sec 14 of Foreigners Act 1946, R/W Sec 3/4 Passport (entry into India) Act 1920, R/W Sec 6 off passport (entry into India) rules 1950.

The accused have been identified as Biak Lion Ceu (28), a resident of Falam district in Chin state of Myanmar, Henry Vanhubik (20), Van Ceu Lian (21), Than Fel (20), Lal Kim Lian (19), Kei Than Hrang (23), Van Eng Lian (18),  Van Uk Lian (21), Biak Nei Iang (19), Lal Cei Mawi (22), Len Mawi (28), Biak Hnem Par (18), Lal Cer Par (18) and Van Biak Cuai (24), all residents of Falam district.

While Nuam Ngaih Kham (25) is from Hakha district in Chin state, Kam Sian Lian (27) is a resident of Sagaing district in Chin state, Thang Sian Muang (25) is from Sagaing, Sut Khan Kim (27) is from Hakha district, Dai Sian Nem (27) is from Hakha district, Din Lan Cing (23) is from Hakha district and Cing Thawh Siam (20) is from Hakha.
