The fourth Guwahati Open Junior Tennis Championship – 2020 got off to a colourful start at the R G Baruah Sports Complex, Nehru Stadium in Guwahati on Monday.
This is one of the flagship tournaments of Assam, organized by the Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association (GLTA).

Altogether 150 participants from various parts of the region are taking part in it.
The championship is being held for both boys and girls singles under – 12, 14 and 18 years respectively.
The championship is carrying a total of Rs 1,82 lakhs as cash scholarship.

All the winners will be awarded with cash scholarships.
Cash scholarship money will be awarded to the players from quarter-final stage in all categories.
The championship is sponsored by the Oil India Limited, Pride-East Entertainment Private Limited and Sports Goods Manufacturer HEAD.
Lakhya Konwar, member secretary of state level committee for Students and Youth Welfare, Assam who attended the inaugural function as the chief guest, inaugurated the championship amidst a huge gathering in a colourful function.
He lauded the efforts of the GLTA for promoting the game of tennis with their motto ‘Tennis for All’ and assured all possible helps and co-operation in their future projects.
In the function, sports organizer Bishnuram Nunisa, GLTA’s advisers Pronoy Bordoloi and Anirban Das respectively, who also attended the function were felicitated by the organizers.
They were introduced to all the participants.
Earlier, Kalyan Kumar Das, chairman of the organizing committee welcomed the august gathering and apprised on the objectives and activities of the GLTA while Bhaskar Sarma, organizing secretary offered the vote of thanks.
