Guwahati will script its name in history on August 24 when the ropeway connecting Guwahati with North Guwahati over the Brahmaputra is formally inaugurated.
Covering a distance of around 2 kilometres, this is going to be the longest river ropeway in Asia.
It will now take around 10 minutes for passengers from Guwahati to reach North Guwahati.
The project has been completed with a cost of Rs 56 crore.
A passenger has to spend Rs 100 to travel in the ropeway and 32 passengers can travel at a time.
The ropeway service will be launched by Assam health, finance and education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
