The 02346 Guwahati-Howrah Special Express derailed on Wednesday at Km 136/5-6 near Chaygaon railway station in Assam’s Kamrup rural district.
The train left Guwahati railway station at about 12:20 pm on Wednesday.
Informing this the chief public relations officer (CPRO) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) Guneet Kaur said the incident took place at about 1:36 pm in the Guwahati-Goalpara-Bongaigaon section under the Rangiya division of NF Railway.
“Four coaches of the train including the pantry car derailed,” the NFR CPRO informed.
No passenger was injured in the incident and there were no casualties.
“Passengers of the affected coaches have been shifted to other coaches,” CPRO Kaur informed.
“On receiving the information, accident relief train and accident relief medical equipment train immediately rushed for the site,” Kaur said.
Senior railway officials from the NF Railway headquarters and Rangiya division are at the site, Kaur said.
Necessary assistance is being provided to all the passengers. Restoration work has already started, the NF Railway CPRO further said.
