Vistadome

The “Vistadome” Guwahati-New Haflong Tourist Express (15888/15887) has been extended to Badarpur based on the increasing demand of the tourists and passengers.

The special tourist train has been one of the most discussed trains in the state due to the introduction of the vistadome coach.

The extended route for the train will be effective from December 22, 2021.

As per the NFR authorities, the train will consist of one Vistadome Coach, four AC chair cars along two other coaches.

The train is scheduled for two days a week. The schedule timing of the train is on Wednesday and Saturday.

As per the timing, the train every Wednesday and Saturday starts at 6:45 AM from Guwahati Railway Station.

Along with this extension, the Guwahati-Naharlagun Shatabdi Express and Naharlagun-New Tinsukia Vistadome Express were also flagged off on Sunday.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma flagged off these trains.

In a tweet, the Chief Minister wrote, “To boost connectivity & tourism in Assam & Arunachal Pradesh, I flagged off Guwahati-Naharlagun Shatabdi Express & Naharlagun-New Tinsukia Vistadome Express along with extending existing Vistadome services till Badarpur in presence of Hon Union MoS for Rlys Smt @DarshanaJardosh.”

The vistadome was introduced by the NFR to attract more tourists to some of the majorly popular routes in the region.

After the flag-off, the Ministry of Railways in a tweet stated, “Vistadome Coach to boost tourism in the North Eastern States: Tno.12087/88 Naharlagun-Guwahati-Naharlagun Shatabdi Express shall resume w.e.f 20.12.2021 with Vistadome Coach. This state-of-the-art coach is equipped with see-through roof, wide window & rotatable sea.”

The first introduced routes were the Guwahati-New Haflong route and the New Jalpaiguri-Alipurduar Junction.

The primary aim of the domes was for passengers to experience the scenic beauty and the cultural heritage of the regions during a “unique train journey”.

These coaches are also targeted to boost the tourism sector and local economy.
