Guwahati: Free eye screening camp benefits several patients at Pandu

Out of 166 patients screened, 33 were found having matured cataract requiring immediate surgeries

A free eye screening camp organised by Nandan- a sports and socio-cultural organisation of Pandu in association with Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital and National Program for Control of Blindness (NPCB) Kamrup (Metro) in the city benefitted 166 people in Pandu area on Sunday.

The eye screening camp was organised on the occasion of the World Health Day.

The people who came to attend the eye screening camp were residents of Rest Camp and surrounding areas of Pandu in Guwahati.

The free eye screening camp was organised in connection with the silver jubilee celebration of “Nandan” which has completed 25 years association with the community.

According to eye specialists of Guwahati Lions Eye Hospital, among them 33 patients have been detected with cataract.

According to eye specialists of Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital, out of 166 patients screened, 33 were found having matured cataract requiring immediate surgeries.

All the patients screened are advised to be operated upon with IOL Cataract Surgeries free of cost at Gauhati Lions Eye Hospital, Chatribari, Guwahati, said a press communique.
