The grand finale of ‘Song of the Soil’, a folk music competition on Bodo and Goalpara folk songs organized by All India Radio, Kokrajhar was held on Sunday at Kokrajhar Commerce college auditorium.

Debendra Nath Basumatary, Adviser and former Additional Director General of All India Radio and Doordarshan for Northeast inaugurated the Grand Finale by lighting the inaugural lamp in presence of dignitaries, artists and music lovers.
Assistant Director AIR Guwahati Rajib Baruah, Bodo Sahitya Sabha President Toren Boro, All Bodo Students Union General Secretary Lorence Islary, Director Engineer AIR Kokrajhar Akilash Prasad Singh and Chakradhar Boro, ADP, AIR, Kokrajhar were among those present on the occasion.
The reality show started on May 30 last year.

In his speech Debendra Nath Basumatary said that the main objective of the reality show was to promote folk songs of Assam especially among the youth and to provide a platform for the un-tapped musical talent of the state. He expressed hope that the rich folk songs of Assam will hook the listeners, especially the younger generation. He also said effort are on upgrade the AIR Kokrajhar.
