The Assam BJP has urged governor Jagdish Mukhi to take over the administration of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) after the expiry of the present council’s term on Monday.
The BPF, which is running the BTC administration, is an ally of BJP government in Assam.
State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass on Sunday said that the Governor’s rule should be imposed in the BTC till the next elections to the council are held.
The term of the present general council of the BTC is set to expire on Monday.
The Assam State Election Commission has been forced to postpone elections to the council, which were slated for April 4, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Opposition Congress had earlier called for the Governor’s rule in the BTC.
