AASU has condemned the Saturday’s incident of Sasoni, where security personnel allegedly tried to frame one Debojit Duarah for possessing arms.

The incident came to light after a video went viral on social media.

In the video, the security personnel were seen to be surrounded by the villagers and they were criticising them for trying to frame Duarah in a false case.

Villagers said that no firearm was recovered from Duarah’s residence.

The security personnel are trying to frame him as Duarah has been an active member of the anti-CAA stir.

Duarah’s wife informed the media that security personnel forced their way into their residence while her husband was away and placed a gun there.

It was then when she raised an alarm and the villagers came for her rescue.

On Monday, condemning the incident, AASU central executive member Uddip Jyoti Gogoi said, “It is a conspiracy to sabotage the anti-CAA movement.”

“The villagers of Sasoni have immensely contributed to the anti-CAA movement. Government is trying to create fear in the minds of the people by suppressing their voices,” Gogoi added.

Speaking about the incident, Dibrugarh SP Sreejith T said, “A .22 mm pistol and at least six rounds of bullets were recovered during the raid on Saturday.”
