Golaghat district Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS) expressed their anguish at Golaghat Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) cum project office in-charge of Village Development Board Utpal Doley for his alleged involvement in embezzlement of the funds allocated for the development of Bokakhat’s Dusutimukh village panchayat on Sunday.

Golaghat KMSS Secretary Ratan Dawe stated at a press release that an amount of Rs 5 lakh was allocated by the government for construction of the Borbeel-Pathari bridge in Dusutimukh village panchayat, for which tenders were also invited by the concerned department.

But the project manger Utpal Doley allegedly handed over the project to one of his relative Dibya Morang, though the project was actually sanctioned in the name of a different contractor, stated the press release.

Further Golaghat KMSS said that Dibya Morang has started the construction of the bridge after the scam was revealed where Utpal Doley along with Morang was allegedly involved.

The press release further quoted the Golaghat KMSS leader as, “An amount of Rs 23, 22,382 was sanctioned under NREGA scheme for construction of Pakhili highland. As per Utpal Doley’s instruction Dibya Morang started the work and asked Rs 5-10 thousand from the job card holders.”

According to KMSS, Dibya Morang was involved in embezzlement of funds also in his wife’s name.

KMSS Golaghat district Executive President Mahen Morang and Secretary Ratan Dawe said that they would lodge a complaint at Dergaon police station in the matter. They further urged the Golaghat Deputy Commissioner to launch an investigation in the funds misappropriation case.

It may be mentioned that several cases against the Additional Deputy Commissioner Utpal Doley were lodged earlier in funds misappropriation case.
