A technical snag on Monday morning forced a Kolkata-bound GoAir flight to make an emergency landing at LGBI Airport in Guwahati shortly after the takeoff.
While initial details about the technical snag were scarce, locals reported finding broken metal parts near the Guwahati airport.

The GoAir flight G8 546, which took off from the Guwahati airport around 11.15 am carrying 132 passengers and seven crew, turned back and landed safely at 11.29 pm at the airport.
All 132 passengers onboard are safe.
“All passengers and crew de-boarded safely back to terminal and AAI followed all safety measures,” said an LGBI airport official.

The aircraft is grounded and decision is with the concerned airline to fly subject to airworthiness by DGCA, the official added.
A local present near the airport at the time said that some villagers came across broken metal pieces.
“At that time, I was inside a room and heard a big sound like as plane crash. I was shocked to hear that sound,” India Today quoted a local as saying.
