The Gauhati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has decided to undertake a mission to complete 800 by-lanes and sub by-lanes within the next three years.
Addressing the media in Guwahati on Thursday, GMC Mayor Mrigen Sarania said that the GMC commissioner has sanctioned Rs one crore to every ward and at the same time Rs one lakh will be forwarded to every area member for developmental works.

Sarania also said that the contractors in charge have to go through a number of steps before their bills get released.
Meanwhile, the GMC Mayor further said that the engineering students of the city have been entrusted with the responsibility to keep a check on the maintenance of the drains.
And after their approval, it has then to be approved by the Ward Commissioner, Ward members and citizens’ bodies.

The Mayor, during the media interaction, also announced to release every single NOC for all the buildings of those who have applied for and to settle maximum problems by April 10.
All the NOCs will be released on April 20 after proper verification of all the documents, he said.
Sarania also warned that if any meat shops violate the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FASSAI) norms and the Slaughter Act within the municipal area of Guwahati city, their licences will be cancelled.
