Guwahati: Gauhati University on Friday announced the introduction of a Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to undergraduate legal education programmes, including the 3-year LLB, 5-year BA-LLB, and BCom-LLB courses, across all law colleges affiliated with the university.
The new system will be implemented from the academic year 2026.
According to an official notification, Gauhati University will conduct and monitor the entire admission process for its affiliated law colleges. โThe University will ensure that the provisions of reservation and merit are strictly adhered to in their true spirit,โ the notification said.
The Common Entrance Test is designed as a centrally administered examination to maintain transparency, uniformity, and fairness in admissions across all undergraduate law programmes under the university.
The notification also urged the principals of affiliated law colleges to extend their support to ensure the smooth implementation and conduct of the CET.
Further details regarding the examination, including dates and procedures, will be announced in due course, a university official said.
