Campaigning has reached its peak at University Law College of Gauhati University as the University Law College Students’ Union (ULCSU) election is scheduled to be held on March 12.

However, the candidates for the posts of general secretary, literary, fine arts, debate, symposium, major games, minor games, boys’ common room, girls’ common room, social service secretary and gymnasium, most of whom are backed by AASU, are likely to be elected unopposed.

This came to light as the nominations of 9 candidates one each in 9 posts were found valid as per the notification released by returning officer of University Law College Students’ Union 2020-21, Gauhati University, Dr. Bikash Gogoi on Thursday.

The college insiders said the election will be a cakewalk for the influential All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) backed candidates.

A member of the University Law College’s AASU unit, “We are upbeat about the outcome of the election as most of our candidates will win uncontested and in the remaining posts, we will win with thumping margins.”
