The Special Judge, CBI, Guwahati on November 27 convicted Anjali Das Thakuria, the then PA to Regional Passport Officer, Guwahati in a bribery case and sentenced her to undergo four years rigorous imprisonment with fine of ten thousand rupees.

CBI had registered a case on 12.09.2014 against Anjali Das Thakuria, a lower division clerk (temporarily attached as PA to Regional Passport Officer) Guwahati on a complaint against her for demandingtwo thousand rupees for clearing the passport file of the complainant and for delivering the passport to his residence within seven days.

CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from the complainant. After investigation, a chargesheet was filed on June 30, 2015 in the Designated Court.

The Trial Court found the accused guilty and convicted her.
