Nagaon police on Tuesday detained at least four persons in connection with the gang rape of a differently abled woman in Kachua village of Assam.

The detainees are residents of Kachua village of Nagaon district, according to reports.

The police are also making efforts to nab the rest of the culprits involved with the gang rape incident.

As per reports, the woman has undergone medical tests and is said to be in a stable condition.

The villagers of Kachua have protested against the gang rape and given an ultimatum of 48 hours to the police to catch all the culprits.

The villagers also said that if the police fail to catch all the culprits, then they will launch a search operation themselves and punish the persons involved in the gang rape of the woman.

The lady who went for a bicycle ride was allegedly gang raped by five men on Sunday.

When she did not come back at night, her parents alerted the police and villagers about her disappearance.

The lady who returned home herself on Monday morning informed her parents that she had been repeatedly gang raped by five men the previous night.

After a police complaint was lodged, the lady took the police officials to the spot where she was raped.

The police recovered all the items that were found at the spot and sent them for forensic tests.

The lady had been undergoing treatment at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Institute of Mental Health in Tezpur.

The police officials said that the lady claimed that she did not know any of the persons who had raped her.
