Ahead of the BTC polls, former Assam MP Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary said the third Bodo Accord cannot be accepted and would revive the movement for a separate Bodoland state.

The third Bodo Accord was signed on January 27, 2020, with all the four factions of the National Democratic Front (NDFB) ending the 34 years of arms struggle.

The former president of All Bodo Students’ Union (ABSU), Pramod Boro was also one of the signatories.

Union home minister Amit Shah said the tri-partite agreement would fulfill all the key political and economic demands of Bodoland.

The agreement entrusts the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), a rechristened administrative unit from the existing entity, Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC).

However, the former Kokrajhar MP, Sansuma Khunggur Bwiswmuthiary, rejected the Accord and the formation of BTR, and said he would revive the movement for a separate Bodoland state.

Bwiswmuthiary made the announcement after the end of a special workshop on the issue at the guest house of PWD in Kokrajhar town on Sunday.

He informed that the workshop was participated by several former president, general secretary of the ABSU, leaders, activists, retired principals of university, colleges, and schools.

Former ABSU leaders Daorao Dekhreb Narzary, Pradip Kumar Daimary, Rabiram Brahma, Santala Basumatary, social activists Zebraram Mushahary, Ranjit Borgoyary, Prafullo Boro and Dinonath Basumatary were also present at the workshop.

Talking to reporters after the workshop, Bwiswmuthiary said, “We will not accept the BTR Accord.”

While targeting former ABSU president Pramod Boro, who recently became the president of United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL), said, “We are not satisfied with the Accord which has been signed without taking former ABSU leaders, activists and the leaderships of other social organizations into confidence.”

“We will continue to revolt against it. The BTR (Bodo) Accord cannot be the last Accord for the Bodos. Through this Accord, the sacrifices of the thousands of Bodo martyrs have been dishonoured,” said Bwiswmuthiary.

He added, “The years-long Bodoland movement has not ended. We will revive the movement in a bold way.”
