Arunachal Pradesh Former Home Minister Takar Marde was on Tuesday arrested by Dispur police for allegedly obstructing a traffic police man from performing his official duty near Ganeshguri.

According to police, Marde, who was a Congress minister during the erstwhile regimes of Dorjee Khandu and Jarbom Gamlin, indulged into an altercation with the on-duty traffic police personnel over parking of his vehicle.

Marde refused obey the rules despite repeated requests made by the on-duty police personnel, a police official said.

A case (3313/17) was registered at Dispur police station under sections 353/294/506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Except Section 353, which relates to assault or criminal force to deter a public servant from discharging his duty, the other two Sections relate to bailable offences.

The Officer-in-charge of Dispur police station said the accused has been forwarded to judicial custody.

Marde had held different portfolios during the Congress regime in Arunachal Pradesh.
