Follow SC order on crackers during Diwali: Kamrup(M) DC

As per 2018 Supreme Court order, the timing of bursting firecrackers is between 8 pm and 10 pm during Diwali festival

The Kamrup (M) district administration has urged all citizens of the district to strictly follow the Supreme Court guidelines on bursting crackers during Diwali.

Along with other parts of the country, Guwahatians are also getting ready to celebrate the festival of lights on October 27-28.

As per the 2018 Supreme Court order, the decibel limit for the firecrackers should be maximum 125 decibel.

Following the apex court order, the residents in the city will have to burst firecrackers in between 8 pm and 10 pm during the Diwali festival.

The order has been issued by the deputy commissioner of Kamrup(M), who is also the chairman of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Kamrup (M) district.

According to reports, the crime branch of the city police will keep vigil on firecracker vendors whether they are following the restrictions on selling firecrackers.

According to reports, the Kamrup (M) district administration has selected 21 places under five revenue circles for selling firecrackers in the city.

Under Guwahati Revenue Circle, the firecrackers will be available at Old Jail Campus, Fancy Bazar; Pandu College Field, Pandu; Ulubari Girls’ HS School Field and Lal Ganesh Temple Field.

Under the same circle firecrackers will be sold at Sonaram HS School Field;  Pachim Bora Gaon Prathamik Vidyalaya Field near Garchuk; Pub Guwahati High School Field, Chandmari and Kachamari Ghat river side.

Under the Dispur Revenue Circle, firecrackers will be sold at Dispur College Field; space below Ganeshguri Flyover; space below Bhangagarh Flyover; space below Six Mile Flyover and Geetanagar Field.

More other places under this circle selected for firecrackers sale are Beltola Bazar, Bihutali; Borbari ME School Field and Udayan Kishti Sangha Field.

Under the Azara Revenue Circle, the Rajdhar Borah HS School Field, Azara has been selected for firecrackers sale.

Bonda Bihu Field and Chandrapur HS School Field have been selected for cracker sale under Chandrapur Revenue Circle.

Two places have been selected for selling crackers under Sonapur Revenue Circle.

These are Sonapur Mini Stadium and Khetri Gaon Panchayat Field.
