Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Assam BJP President Bhabesh Kalita at Bhangagarh Police Station in Guwahati alleging that he made threatening and unconstitutional remarks regarding the Arunodoi Scheme.

He reportedly warned that those who fail to provide proof of BJP membership would not receive the monthly Rs 1,250 payment under the scheme.
A delegation led by APCC Social Media and IT Department Chairman, Ratul Kalita, condemned Kalita’s remarks, terming them an attempt to intimidate the public and misuse government welfare programs for political gain.
“Bhabesh Kalita has lost his mental balance and is trying to safeguard his position by scaring the public,” Ratul Kalita said.
