The India International Centre (IIC) will hold a five-day Festival Of The Arts from October 27 in New Delhi show casing arts, culture, cuisines and films of the North East.

The festival will be inaugurated by the IIC president NN Vohra followed by a concert by the Shillong Chamber Choir. MoirangSai and Lai-Haraoba Songs by Mangka Mayanglambam with Laihui Ensemble of Manipur and Jazz, Funk, R & B and Blues by Ronnie and the Band from Nagaland will be another attraction of the festival.

On October 29 Lapdiang A Syiem from Meghalaya will enact a play ‘A Being – Human; being Human Human Beings’. Concert by Girish N The Chronicles of Sikkim and Ras Leela from Manipur will be another attraction of the festival.

The festival will also showcase an exhibition on the history of Tripura, its people, literature, craft tradition and archaeological heritage.

The North East Through its Writings will be another interesting event in the festival where an exhibition on books in English and other languages will be held.

Traditional bamboo house, ceremonial gateway and photographs will be displayed to create an authentic atmosphere of the region in the open air spaces of the Centre

Artists from all the eight North Eastern states will present traditional dance and music; rock music by leading bands from the region; and screening of documentary films are other interesting events of the festival.

An exhibition of photographs on the Monpas of Arunachal Pradesh and the monastic world of Tawang Contemporary art by artists from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura and Aribam Syam Sharma Retrospective are other features of the festival
