Controversial MLA Sherman Ali Ahmed on Tuesday said that encroachers in land belonging to Satras in Assam are mostly non-Muslims and the current government is trying to set a narrative by claiming the encroachers to be Muslims.

Speaking to the media, Sherman said, “Although people from the ruling party claim that the land of the Satras is being encroached on by the minorities, the truth is something else.”

He added that by claiming Muslims to be encroachers of Satra lands, the government is trying to fulfill some sort of an agenda.

“The claim of freeing the land from the Muslims is a conspiracy to create a division among the people of the state”, he added.

Sherman also claimed that earlier there were no communal vibes among the people in Assam but the BJP-led government has turned the state into a communal hub.
