GUWAHATI: A team from the Election Commission of India (ECI) is embarking on a two-day visit to Assam starting Tuesday (March 05).
Their agenda includes meetings with state officials, political parties, and various organizations to solicit feedback on the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In addition to gathering input, the ECI team will engage in discussions with the Assam police officials regarding security arrangements for the electoral process.
Concurrently, the Assam government has formally petitioned the ECI to schedule the elections prior to Bohag Bihu.

During the ECI team’s visit, both the chief minister and the chief secretary of Assam will advocate for their request to the ECI, emphasizing the cultural significance and public enthusiasm associated with the Bohag Bihu festival.
