EAC carries out fighter aircraft ops from Guwahati airport

Eastern Air Command (EAC) of IAF carried out fighter aircraft operation from civil air fields of Guwahati, Kolkata and Andal.

The aim was to use the civil airport under it’s AOR in case of any eventuality, validate the  fighter operations procedure , familiarise the crew and pilots about the Air Field and coordinate with civil agencies for these operations.

In view of this,  SU-30s operated from Kolkata and Guwahati and Hawk jets from Andal  from May  1 to May  1, 2019 in which both day and night operations were carried out.

Air Marshal Sandeep Singh, SASO, EAC expressed satisfaction and conveyed that  exercise achieved all it’s aim and such training gives us  the flexibility to shift operating base if the need arises.

He further emphasised the  significance of operating from Kolkata as it is vital for  maritime operational significance.
