Durga Puja: Keep watch on abandoned items, suspicious people, says Assam DGP

As the festive mood grips all across Assam with the beginning of Durga Puja festival by welcoming Goddess Durga with Shashthi puja in all the puja mandaps, the State’s police administration has also tightened security so that no untoward incident takes place during the festival.

The Assam DGP Kuladhar Saikia has urged the people of Assam to keep watch on the abandoned items and suspicious people during the festival period and inform it to the police.

The top level police officials of the State have already reviewed the security scenario for Durga Puja this year in the city.

Informing this on his Twitter handle, Assam’s Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia on Monday stated:  “Reviewed the security scenario for Durga Puja 2018 in the city with Assam Police officials.”

While appealing to the people for extending cooperation to the police administration, DGP Saikia tweeted: “I appeal to the people for their cooperation, to keep a watchful eye on abandoned items & suspicious characters and inform police immediately.”
