Drug mafia Pakhi Miyan was seriously injured on Wednesday when two motorcycle-borne unidentified miscreants fired at him near the Bhetapara hockey stadium under Basistha police station in Guwahati.
Miyan received serious injuries in his hand and has been admitted to Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH).
A police official said the incident took place around 8 pm when Miyan, who is currently out bail, was travelling in a Gypsy vehicle with his driver.
Police was trying to ascertain if any nearby CCTV captured the incident. The bullet was suspected to be that of a 9mm pistol.
Miyan was arrested several times by police in connection with various cases.
He had even fled from GMCH while in custody.
