Gram Shakti Abhiyan Divas was observed at Haflong District Library in Dima Hsao, as part of the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Gaon, Sabka Bikash’ campaign on Saturday.
Panchayat and Rural Development Department (PNRD) in collaboration with Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL) organized the event.
It may be mentioned that ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Gaon, Sabka Bikash’ campaign was launched by the Union Ministry of Power across the State on April 14, 2018, which will continue till May 5, 2018.
Ministry of Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises Under Secreatary H H Shukla, APDCL Chairman Jishnu Barua, Dima Hasao Deputy Commissioner Amitabh Rajkhowa, Principal Secretary North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council Naresh Ghose, Haflong Town Committee Chairman Anil Daulagupu, District Nodal Officer of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana Basudev Seete and other dignitaries were present at the event.
Addressing the gathering, Jishnu Barua spoke about Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Saubhagya Yojana , Pradhan Mantri Jan-Dhan Yojana (PMJDY) along with other Central government sponsored schemes at the event. Barua also appealed to the concerned authorities to maintain a good relation with the public.
Speaking to the media, DC Rajkhowa said, “The weaker section of the society will be benefitted by these schemes.”
Cheques and free domestic gas connections were distributed to the people.
The beneficiaries expressed their happiness at receiving free domestic gas connections under Ujjala yojna and pakka house under Prime Minsters’ Awas Yojna. LED bulbs were also distributed under the Gram Shakti Abhiyan at low cost across the State.
