Shuttler Isharani Baruah brought laurels for the people of Dibrugarh by securing a Bronze medal in the recently concluded Yonex Sunrise Bangladesh International Badminton Challenge 2021 held in Dhaka from December 1 to 5.
She also won bronze while representing India in the Infosys Foundation India International Badmiton Challenge 2021 in the Women’s Single Category held in Bangalore from October 19 to 24, 2021.
Isharani won bronze medals each in the Women’s Singles and Mixed Doubles category.
Dibrugarh District Sports Association, Badminton, Secretary, Bidyut Bikash Deori said, “We are proud of her because she brought glory for DDSA by winning the Bronze medal in the International Badminton championship,”.
Talking to Northeast Now, Isharani Baruah’s mother Junmoni Gogoi Baruah said, “We are proud of our daughter for bringing laurels for Dibrugarh. She is hardworking and very passionate about her game.”
“From her childhood, she had an inclination towards sports. So, we have enrolled her in Badminton at DDSA indoor stadium. She learned the art of Badminton under then badminton coach Narul Akhtar Hussain. After that she participated in many events and tournaments where she bagged Gold medals,” she said.
Isharani bagged Gold medal in the under-19 NE zone inter-state Badminton Championship held at Mizoram in 2017 while in 63rd National School Game Girls U-14 held at Kadapa in Andra Pradesh, she secured Gold medal.
She won Gold medal in All India Sub-Junior Girl’s U-17 held at Imphal in 2019.
Isharani also bagged Gold medal in the Yonex Sunrise NE zone Inter-state held in Sikkim (2019).
She also won Silver medal in Khelo India Youth Game held in Guwahati in 2020.
