Dhansiri Women’s Hostel of Tezpur University has been ransacked repeatedly at a time when the hostel is closed due to the nationwide lockdown.
In the past 10 days, there have been three theft attempts in the hostel, the latest one coming on Wednesday night.

“Repeated theft attempts in the empty hostel rooms of the hostel is a cause of concern,” a Guwahati-based hostel boarder said.
“The higher authorities have been informed about this and we expect them to take necessary actions,” she further said seeking anonymity.
“Even though the hostel is empty, the theft attempts, however, doesn’t make us feel good and a sense of fear has gripped most of us,” she further added.

Sources informed that on Wednesday night the thieves reached to the first floor of the hostel.
Even though there are security guards, but male guards are not allowed inside the hostel premises and thieves took advantage of it, sources said.
