Assam Designer Sanjukta Dutta has been making waves with her designs recently. After showcasing the Assam Silk on platforms like Femina India Wedding Show, National Asian Wedding Show, India Fashion Week London, she is set to showcase her designs at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival next year. The designer also won the Global Indian Icon Award this year.

She has signed an agreement with the Cannes Film Festival organizers. Sanjukta Dutta has been asked to design dresses made of Assam silk for the Hollywood celebrities to walk the ramp at Cannes.

She has been selected as the ‘Red Carpet Designer’ for the Hollywood celebrities at Cannes. Cannes Film Festival will be held in the month of May, next year. She has already started preparing for the designs that are to be showcased at the film festival.

She currently employs 130 weavers for her workshop. Initially she found a lot of weavers in Sualkuchi, who were leaving the profession. The weavers were paid very little for their work. So she provided free food and lodging facilities for the weavers. If they were able to produce more they were also provided with health insurance and other incentives. Within 16 months the number of weavers increased.
