Indian Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reached Chabua on Tuesday on a two-day visit to Spear Corps Zone.

On her arrival at Chabua, Nirmala Sitharaman was received by Lt General MM Naravane AVSM, SM, VSM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Eastern Command and Lt Gen Gopal R, General Officer Commanding Spear Corps.

Thereafter, she proceeded to Dinjan where she was briefed by General Officer Commanding, Dao Division on the security situation in Upper Assam and operational preparedness along the LAC with China.

She complimented the efforts of the Dao Division in maintaining the sanctity of LAC with China and appreciated the armed forces for their utmost dedication in the line of duty.

At Dinjan, she also interacted with Veer Naris and ex-servicemen and distributed sweets to them on the occasion of Diwali.

She is scheduled to visit forward posts and celebrate Diwali with troops along the Line of Actual Control on November 7.
