CSIR-NEIST on Thursday inked an MoU with the Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal, on Wednesday at Dr JN Baruah Auditorium of the institute.
The step has been taken to strengthen the activities of both institutes for socio-economic development of the Northeast region.

Scientist Ilika Zhimo said that the MoU would provide a platform for interaction and exchange of expertise between the institutes for formulating research projects.
“It would also help in undertaking various joint programmes for the entire region,” Zhimo said.
The MoU was signed by Professor Dinabandhu Sahoo, director of IBSD and G Narahari Sastry, director of CSIR-NEIST.

Sahoo also delivered a special lecture on the occasion wherein he elaborated his life’s journey starting from his college days to his Antarctica expedition.
He also presented the activities of IBSD in the region for employment generation among rural women with sustainable use of bio-resources, research outputs in terms of paper publications and student intake, etc.
Earlier, Dr G Narahari Sastry delivered the welcome address wherein he mentioned the potential areas for collaboration.
He also expressed hope that the MoU will go a long way in serving the people of the Northeast.
He also mentioned about various initiatives taken up by the institute for technology dissemination, STINER programme, bio-entrepreneurship development, etc.
