Assam has registered 8 more COVID19 positive cases taking the total to 230.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday evening said one positive case has been detected in the quarantine centre of Mahendra Mohan Choudhury Hospital (MMCH) at Panbazar in Guwahati.
The 7 other patients have been detected in the Cachar district of the Barak Valley.
Health minister Sarma said one patient has been detected at the Silchar Medical College Hospital (SMCH) in Cachar.
He informed that the six other patients from Cachar have travel history and all are under quarantine in the district.
Health minister Sarma tweeted, “Alert ~ Eight cases of #COVID19 confirmed, as per details below.
“1 patient who is at MMCH under quarantine.
“1 patient of SMCH
“6 persons in Cachar with travel history; all in quarantine.”
With the new cases, the number of active COVID19 cases registered in Assam has increased to 169.
“Total count 230; active cases are at 169,” Sarma added.
Earlier, a total of 54 COVID19 patients were discharged from various hospitals across Assam after their recovery.
The deadly disease has claimed the lives of 4 persons in Assam so far while 3 cases migrated from the state.
On Friday, Assam has so far recorded 20 cases.
