With the demise of two more positive patients, the COVID19 death tally in Assam increased to 50 on Thursday.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet on Thursday said: “Disheartening to let you know that we lost two precious lives today to #COVID19.”
The COVID19 victims have been identified as 50-year-old Bidul Ahmed from Baksa district and 63-year-old Upen Ch Sharma from Kamrup (Metro) district.
“Shri Bidul Ahmed (50) from Baksa & Shri Upen Ch Sharma (63) from Kamrup (Metro) succumbed to their infections today,” said Sarma.
The health minister has expressed his condolences to the bereaved families and friends of the deceased.

Meanwhile, the health minister informed about the discharge of 666 more COVID19 patients from various hospitals across Assam after they tested negative for the virus.
“Discharge Alert. 666 patients discharged today in Assam. I wish you all enjoy good health & long life. Stay blessed forever,” Sarma tweeted.
With the release of these patients, the total number of discharged patients in Assam now stands at 13,554.
Assam currently has 6,147 active patients.
