Assam has registered 84 new COVID19 positive cases, taking the state’s overall tally to 1,756.
Confirming the news, Assam health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in a tweet at 9.29 pm on Wednesday said two of the infected patients have been detected at the airport.
The other infected patients are from Dima Hasao, Hojai, Biswanath, Dibrugarh, Kamrup, Karimganj, Cachar, Udalguri and Lakhimpur districts.
Health minister Sarma informed that 30 persons have tested positive in Dima Hasao district, 20 in Hojai, and 14 have tested positive for the virus in Biswanath district.
While 10 persons have tested positive in Dibrugarh, 3 positive cases have been detected in Kamrup, 2 in Karimganj, 1 in Cachar and the two are cases are from Udalguri and Lakhimpur districts.

With the new cases, the total number of active COVID19 cases in Assam stands at 1,336.
Earlier, a total of 413 COVID19 patients have been discharged from various hospitals across Assam after their recovery.
The deadly disease has so far claimed the lives of 4 persons while 3 migrated from the state.
