The new list of COVID-19 SOPs for the state of Assam will be announced on Friday.
This was informed by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday evening.

Earlier, it was expected that the Assam government would announce new SOPs by Thursday evening.
Issuing of new SOPs has been felt necessary owing to rise in COVID-19 cases and Omicron threat.

There are several speculations regarding the new SOP.
While the Chief Minister already clarified that there won’t be any lockdown in the state, there are media reports claiming that there might in a change in the curfew timing and also other rules and restrictions.
Assam health minister Keshab Mahanta had claimed that the state is prepared to tackle the situation as there is a sufficient number of beds in reserve for COVID-19 patients.
