The Assam Government has started the vaccination drive for students and children of the 15-18 age group from Monday.
Speaking about the drive, Health Minister Keshab Mahanta said that the drive is to ensure that all children of the age group 15-18 get vaccinated as soon as possible.
He added that the government has a seven day target to get these students vaccinated.

Mahanta further informed that on the first day, around 1 lakh students in 500 schools and educational institutions will be vaccinated.
The students will be vaccinated with COVAXIN and the second dose will be given to them within 28 to 42 days.
Mahanta informed that by the first week or second week of February, the students will be given the second dose.

The drive is also aimed towards vaccinating the students before the board and council examinations.
It may be mentioned that the HSLC and HS exams in Assam are scheduled from March 15 this year and the department of education has announced that this year the exams will be held offline.
