On the other hand, the Assam government has issues a set of standard operating procedures in view of the upcoming Bohag Bihu celebrations in the state.

These guidelines have been issued to curb the spread of mutant strains of the virus during the festive season when there are bound to be large gatherings in public places.

However, the Bihu committees are protesting against the directives of the state government that has asked the former to wind up Bihu functions by 11 am and provide all people arriving in the venue with hand sanitizers and face masks.

The pandals for the functions will also have to be big enough to allow the public to practice social distancing.

The organizers and volunteers will also have to undergo compulsory Covid-19 tests before the functions.
